Original Acrylic Painting Framed W/Salvaged
Oregon Timber Frame
This work came to be through a group of friends who wanted to give something truly personal to someone dear to them. Jimmy spent years teaching in the remote desert community of Warakurna, WA and his mates wanted to bring that place back to him.
One of the organisers provided a brief rich with knowledge and photography of the area. The country spoke immediately and the painting followed.
At the centre of the composition stands a surreal red gum thats trunk doubles as a dusty red road leading you to the horizon. A surreal sunset melts behind the iconic Rawlinson Ranges. Scattered throughout are the quiet details of life in that country: corrugated iron tanks, dingos, native plants — things that make the place unmistakably itself.
A piece made with a lot of love, for a bloke who gave a lot of himself to that place.
